Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP)
Through the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP), homeowners can access flexible financing through the City of Calgary. Successful applicants can use the financing to pay for eligible upgrades, which they must pay back through their property tax bill. CEIP financing is attached to the property being upgraded, instead of the property owner. This means that if you decide to sell your property, you can either repay or disclose the balance to prospective buyers who will assume responsibility over repayment.
Canada Greener Homes Initiative
Canadian homeowners can apply for home retrofit grants as part of the Canada Greener Homes Initiative. Depending on how much you spend upgrading your home, you may be eligible to claim back up to $5000 in retrofit costs, and up to $600 toward the total costs of your pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations. Interest-free loans of up to $40,000, with a repayment term of 10 years, are also available to eligible applicants. To be eligible, your home must be at least six months old. Owners of detached homes, rowhouses, townhouses, mobile homes, and certain residential units in mixed-use buildings may qualify for grants or a loan. The program is not available to renters or landlords who rent their property.
Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) Program
Transport Canada's Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) Program aims to make zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) more affordable for Canadians. The program provides incentives for consumers who purchase or lease eligible ZEVs. The retailer will help you with the paperwork. Make sure to review the list of eligible vehicles. There are two levels of incentives ranging from up to $2,500 for shorter-range plug-in hybrids to up to $5,000 for battery-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and longer-range plug-in hybrids. The incentives can be combined with provincial or territorial incentives.

BC Hydro: Free programs based on income
BC Hydro offers various free energy saving programs for lower-income households. These programs include free energy saving kits, which contain products like high-efficiency showerheads, LED lightbulbs, and more; professional energy coaching and installation, to give you advice about how you can save energy in your house; and upgrades for Indigenous communities and non-profit housing providers. Income qualification for BC Hydro’s income qualification programs is based on total household income from the previous year, with consideration of the total number of people in the household. To see if you may qualify for one of BC Hydro’s programs, view their income qualification table or their savings based on income webpage.
FortisBC: Rebates and offers
